Independent Publishers Association of Ontario (formerly Periodical Publishers Exchange)
The IPAO is a group of independent publishers who meet to discuss and gain information on a variety of topics relating to the publishing industry. The association was formed 27 years ago by a handful of Toronto-area independent publishers who felt the need to meet monthly in an effort to seek advice from peers, monitor trends in the industry and express their thoughts and views. Members include consumer magazine publishers, business-to-business publishers, and special-interest publishers.

Canadian Newsstand Awards
Now in its seventh year, the Canadian Newsstand Awards program has established itself as the “marker” of success on the newsstand. More than $75,000 in credits towards newsstand promotional programs have been awarded to winning publishers. The awards honour single-copy sales success and execution in various circulation categories, from the smallest niche magazines to the country’s biggest magazine brands. The award winners are announced each year at a special reception and networking event at Mags U, this year on June 3. Entry deadline is April 11, 2008.
